NICOLA ASKS
Last September my twenty-one year old step-daughter, Nicola, headed off to Bible college. No one in her family had ever done such a thing and I am sure she had to face some discouragement and perhaps mockery. But still she went. When anyone asked what the point of it all was she freely admitted she didn’t know. But she trusted God and believed there would be a point; there would be a purpose at the end of it all.
College fees cost and
At the start of the course she didn’t have enough money to pay the full year. With an agreement she could pay module by module she went anyway.
Yesterday I texted Nicola. “Needing anything?” I asked.
“Only prayers,” she replied, “for direction and provision.”
I wished I could have taken care of her financial problems. But I shouldn’t have worried, they were already in hand.
This morning I got a text saying, “God answers quickly.” She just had a visit from the college secretary saying they were going to waive the remainder of the year’s fees and there was a scholarship that would take care of a chunk of next year’s costs.
Wow! I’m just going to take a moment to bask in how much God loves my step-daughter.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! He does have a purpose in mind for her and He’s not going to let a little thing like money get in the way.
Right! Now, back to reality! And the reality is that God loves each of us just as much as He loves Nicola and He’s not above sorting out the everyday stuff of our lives. Walk with Him a while. Learn to depend on Him as a father.
As a father I would have gladly paid Nicola’s fees but my wallet was empty. God’s wallet, on the other hand, is like his heart – full of gold!
