Soul Magic -- by David McLaughlan

LISTEN TO THE MUSIC

A friend of mine, a big music fan, recently discovered Neil Young. He bought a couple of albums and is really enjoying them. He’s beginning to understand why people rate Young so highly.

But Neil Young has been around a long time. For forty years he has written and played great music. He has collaborated with other artists, been covered by countless singers and influenced innumerable acts. This Canadian boy has had a major impact on the worldwide music scene.

And for most of that time my friend knew about him. He knew Young sold millions of albums. He knew artists he respected cited Young as a hero. He was aware of the phenomenon.

Now, as the result of a chance buy, he was beginning to get it, beginning to wish maybe he’d got it sooner – but glad he’d got there eventually.

Faith is like that for many of us. We’ve heard of God, we know a lot of people rate Him quite highly, we’ve seen the difference He makes in other people’s lives, but …

Just like music, the love of God is something you can hear about, you can take other people’s word for what it’s like. You might think you know what it’s all about. But, until you immerse yourself in it, until you let it wash over you – until you actually listen, you won’t really get it.

So, treat yourself to a gift like my friend. Download it, buy it from a bargain bin, get it second hand, the quality will be just as good. Find out what this God character is all about before it gets any later. Because he plays beautiful music too!
