GOD IN MY POCKET

The other day an American friend sent me one of those inspirational e mails that do the rounds. This one was called “God in the Stairwell.” The stairwell in question was in the World Trade Towers and the whole point of it was that God is always right there beside us. We only need to look. But usually we are just too busy – until there is some disaster.

Well, I’d been working on something else when the message arrived and I needed to dig out a little reminder I had stored in my phone. Like most phones mine has a “Templates” or “Quick Messages” section. These are standard messages which we can send off when we are too busy to actually call or text someone.

Some of them seem hard wired into the phone, but the last few are re-writable and whenever I have an idea I need to remember I type them in there.

As I opened up the Quick Messages section, I thought to myself, “well, if God was right here beside me, He is gonna have to wait a minute until I get this done.”

Yeah. Right!

The first of the hard-wired messages said, “I am already here.” Then came, “Please call me. It’s important!” Followed by, “Take care!”

To say I was taken aback would be understating it! I e-mailed the friend who had sent me God in the Stairwell. She checked her cell. The first three Quick Messages on her phone – a different phone on a different continent – read, “Call me when you get this message,” “I love you,” and “When can we meet up?”

Do you ever get the feeling someone is trying to tell you something?
